AGM 2020 – Part 2

We will be holding the adjourned Annual General Meeting at 7pm on Thursday the 21st January 2021 online via Microsoft Teams to comply with current Covid-19 restrictions relating to the gathering of people for large meetings.

We thank those that did attend and welcomed the question and queries raised on the 3rd December 2020, but as we were not quorate no voting could take place. Please see the bottom of this post for links to presentations made during the meeting by the Chair and Rendall & Rittner.

Microsoft Teams has been selected to host this video conference meeting, as it allows many people to participate, is secure and easy to use.

Please note that this year’s meeting is restricted to Members of EIVT only. If you are a member (you don’t automatically become one when you purchase a property on the Island) then hopefully you would have received your invitation by post and/or email.

If not, please fill out the membership form and send a photo or scan of your completed form to enquiries@eiv.org.uk where we will send out an invite to the meeting via email if accepted for membership.

We have vacancies for two Trustees should we receive nominations – we need your help! Only Members without overdue rent charge debts may be elected as Trustees. If you would like to be a Trustee, please fill in the nomination form and submit it to the Trust in the same way as noted above for the membership form.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update July 2020

Please see below update on the actions the Trust is taking regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The community centre has partially reopened for one of our local church groups who have taken great care to ensure compliance with Government and Church guidance. We are continuing to look into measures following recent Government guidance to reintroduce groups in a safe manner and we are in discussions with the other user groups about their plans to reconvene safely.

All playgrounds in the village are reopening the week commencing the 6th July.

Please remember to take note of social distancing measures when approaching the Trust’s staff and contractors.

We would like to reiterate again the importance of keeping the village clean and tidy. We thank those of you that have been conscientious and have taken your litter with you.

We ask all residents and visitors to continue to follow the latest government advice and keep at least two metres away from each other where possible while moving around the village and only gathering in groups where permitted.

Please use official Government and NHS sources for information, for example:

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update June 2020

Please see below update on the actions the Trust is taking regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The community centre remains closed until further notice and all meetings and groups are cancelled. We are looking into measures following recent Government guidance to partially reopen the centre.

All playgrounds in the village remain closed and must not be used.

Scott has returned to work collecting litter with new measures to keep him safe. You must take note of social distancing measures when approaching him.

We would like to reiterate again the importance of keeping the village clean and tidy. We thank those of you that have been conscientious and have taken your litter with you.

We ask everyone to take responsibility for their litter and use the bins provided or take it home and dispose of it. During periods of good weather (such as the bank holidays) the bins filled up very quickly and litter was left on grass areas and around bins. Litter must not be placed by the bins, only within. When bins are full, it should be disposed of using your regular London Borough of Enfield refuse collection. Leaving sacks of rubbish (as well as bulkier items) is classed as fly tipping. Animals can rip these open and the contents will be strewn across the park, spoiling the environment for everyone.

We ask all residents and visitors to continue to follow the latest government advice and keep at least two metres away from each other while moving around the village and only gathering in groups where permitted.

Please use official Government and NHS sources for information, for example:

Thank you and Stay Safe,

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Here is an update on the actions the Trust is taking regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • The community centre remains closed until further notice and all meetings and groups are cancelled.
  • All playgrounds in the village remain closed and must not be used.

The board of Trustees feel that it is no longer appropriate for Scott to walk the village collecting litter.  We have asked our managing agent to investigate alternative arrangements that can be put in place until it is safe for Scott to return to work. Scott’s safety is our primary concern and we hope that all residents understand our decision.

Now more than ever we need people to take responsibility for their litter and use the bins provided or take it home and dispose of it.  Sacks of household rubbish must not be left by the bins and should be disposed of using your regular London Borough of Enfield bin collection.  Leaving sacks of rubbish is fly tipping, animals can rip these open and the contents will be strewn across the park spoiling the environment for everyone.

We ask all residents and visitors to comply with the latest government advice and keep at least 2 metres away from each other while moving around the village and avoid gathering in groups.

Please use official Government and NHS sources for information, for example:

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Following the Government’s advice regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) the Trust has decided to take the following action:

  1. The Community Centre is closed with effect from Friday 20 March.  The Centre will remain closed until further notice and all meetings and groups are cancelled.
  2. All playgrounds in the village are closed and must not be used.
  3. Our litter picker Scott will continue to collect litter for now.  Please respect his safety by keeping 2 metres away from him.  If people do not respect Scott’s safety we will have to stop litter picking.

We advise all residents and visitors to comply with the latest government advice and keep at least 2 metres away from each other while moving around the village and avoid gathering in groups.

Tyre dumping across the village

There have been a number of incidents where a large number of car and lorry tyres have been dumped in car parks across the village.

The Trust are tackling this on three fronts, none of which is straightforward:

1.  We are arranging for tyres in garage areas to be moved so that garages can be accessed.  The main problem here is finding a reputable contractor who can deal with the tyres as they have to be disposed of properly.  There is currently a backlog sending UK tyres abroad for disposal and tyre disposal companies are not accepting tyres.  This might explain why they have been dumped here illegally.

2.  we are trying to identify and prosecute those responsible.  Hopefully we will be able to recover all of our costs.  Residents can help by reporting anything they see to the police and copy the report to the Trust for our records.

3.  We are looking at measures to prevent this happening again.  This is not easy as there are a number of car parks across the village that residents have access to.

We will post progress on this website and on twitter and facebook.

2019-20 Rentcharge demands

Hello EIV property owners,

it’s that time of year again when rentcharge is due on your EIV property.

This year, we have changed the arrangements so that you will receive the demand directly from Enfield Island Village Trust and will make payment directly into a Trust-run bank account.

All the details of the new arrangements are given in the rentcharge demand pack that you will receive via post or email – please carefully follow the instructions given.

Unfortunately, the change of arrangements took longer than expected, hence the delay in issuing this year’s rentcharge demand.

Thank you for bearing with us.

Kind regards,

EIVT Board of Trustees.
